Stalag XXI A

This is a card that my father sent from Stalag XXI A, where he was a PoW in 1942, to his auntie.

  1. What a waste of time wars are, aren’t they? There’s a lot better things you could be doing.

  2. Good that he survived. Hope he was well treated. Strange to think the other side tries to kill you, then after capture they feed you and tell your auntie not to worry.

  3. He lost a lot of weight.

  4. And broke his back!

  5. He fell off a roof.
