I don’t enjoy shopping for clothes, but did so today for some lightweight summer shoes. I started by looking in Harvey Nichols, and was astounded when I realised that the high three-digit numbers on the stickers were the prices. They had no £ sign. Maybe they were too embarassed.
There are several stores in Princess Street which sell shoes, and eventually I found some I liked. The assistant was a laugh. He asked if I needed a mirror – I said I didn’t, and he added, “Some people like to do a few dance moves in their new shoes in front of a mirror.” I said that at 62, I was probably beyond that sort of thing.
Outside the shop was a man standing on his head in a bucket.
On the way home I passed the St Andrew Square Field of Light art installation.
There’s always something to see in Edinburgh.
