By the way, we flew to Palma via Ryanair. Here’s an amusing video from Fascinating Aida about cheap flights. We had no mishaps with Ryanair, but at Edinburgh Airport the banana in Lindsey’s hand luggage set off the alarm.
We went on four walks whilst in Mallorca. The first was an easy warm-up – the Puig de Maria just outside Pollença. At 334 metres, anyone who is not too fat could manage the walk up this puig – even Fat Mac would probably make it without having a heart attack, and at the top there’s a restaurant/bar where he’d be able to enjoy a cerveza or two.
We started in the Pollença square, and it being a Sunday morning, the market was taking place.
The Pollença bypass runs to the east of the town, and just beside the petrol station is a sign to Puig de Maria. It’s a 2k walk to the top.
Inside the sanctuary there are several rooms that are rented out to hermits and strange people who want to get away from the pleasures of the flesh and spend their time in meditation.
