Yesterday I posted Scottish Caravan & Outdoor Leisure Show, SECC, mentioning the fact that some sort of basic plan or directory for the show would have helped me a great deal. Today (Sunday), there was a Comment on my blog post from Fran McIntyre – Managing Director of QD Events.
Hi Roddy – Good to get your feedback on the show (positive & otherwise!). I’m surprised to hear that you weren’t given a showguide on arrival. Unless you had free tickets for the show, you should have been handed one when picking up or purchasing your tickets. If you think you could still make use of one, please drop me a note with your address and I’ll pop one in the post. Hope you’ll make it back again next year and that the parking attendants (and visitors) will be enjoying slightly less ‘West of Scotland’ weather! Kind regards, Fran McIntyre – Managing Director.
It’s great knowing that, sometimes, people actually find and listen to what the public (in this case, me) say, and are prepared to spend time responding. No wonder Fran McIntyre was named Event Professional of the Year at the The Scottish Event Awards ceremony (September 9 2010).
In 2001 and 2004 I was fortunate enough to receive marketing awards by CILIP PPRG for some promotional efforts related to information projects, and I’ve always been interested in promotion, marketing and customer care. What Fran McIntyre has done shows excellent marketing skills. She must have been monitoring blogs, and probably tweets, for mentions of the Scottish Caravan & Outdoor Leisure Show. I still do the same for JournalTOCs using a variety of methods (search RSS feeds, http://socialmention.com/ etc), and I try to contact people who mention that service.
