We had a nice family lunch at the Toby Carvery Liberton yesterday.
I recently bought some Euros at the Post Office, and paid for them using my bank debit card. I noticed a charge levied by my bank for ‘cash advance’ for this payment and so went into the bank to question why they’d charged me. They pointed out that on page 57 of the booklet Personal and Private Banking: Terms and Conditions it states that using a Visa Debit card in any other bank, travel agent, bureau de change or other outlet displaying the Visa logo there will be a charge of 1.5% (minimum £2, maximum £4.50). However, they agreed that it didn’t make much sense, and they said they’d waive the charge. Success!
