Last Friday I enjoyed a game of golf with No Longer Grim Jim and JJ at Ross Priory. We played there last year, so it’s now an annual event to look forward to.
Ross Priory is one of the nicest golf courses you can imagine, with views over Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond and other mountains. No Longer told us he’d climbed them all.
No Longer and JJ read the newspapers on a regular basis, and were thus able to update me on what was happening in the world outside of cricket.
My golf was OK, and sometimes my ball landed on the correct fairway. No Longer and JJ also gave me a little advice on how to play, and as a result my score for several holes was less than double figures. With this advice, I’m almost certain to win a bet with Blind Dave when we finally manage to arrange a game. If the advice doesn’t seem to be working, I’ll merely tell Blind Dave that the flag is 30 degrees off to the left or right. Either way, I’ll be a tenner richer, I reckon.
As well as golf and current affairs, No Longer and JJ know a lot about another topic I know very little about – cars. No Longer informed me that JJ has a ‘proper car’, though I can’t remember what make it is. It was a very nice looking car, however.
