  1. Well, exactly. The title makes it clear that they found themselves in all corners of the world, and not just the USA, South Africa, Canada and Australia. According to the book, and unlike the Irish, many of them return home.

One of many interesting things is that, whilst the Irish who went to the USA tended to stay in the cities, and tended to form enclaves (Irish descendants still play a part in, for example, the police and fire brigade in Chicago, NY, etc) and did not tend to become farmers, despite their background of working smallholdings in Ireland, the Scots didn’t tend to do this. The Scots spread themselves all over the country, and did all sorts of jobs.
