There’s several things to do in Kunming, where the weather is pleasant year-round, if you are short of time, which we were.
Top of the list and within easy access is to visit Green Lake. There are lots of boutique shops on the road around the lake, but we headed along the paths to the cafe on the centre island.
Then it was on to the Yuantong Temple, where there was quite a lot of ongoing renovation work.
On the way back to the New Era Hotel we couldn’t find the Two-pagodas of Dade Temple, but visited the Zhong’ai Archway instead. In the evening, after a perambulation of the centre of Kunming, which was teeming with well-dressed youngsters, we had a meal at a local restaurant. It was too fiery!
