Unfortunately, a number of my friends seem to be in poor health at the moment. One has had a hip replacement (fortunately, a full recovery is expected), the Tall Thin One has stiff thighs and a bad back, my brother-in-law has jiggered his shoulder, Fat Mac’s ‘legs have gone’, JJ has been suffering from debilitating arthritis, Blind Dave is quite ill, another friend is in hospital, and even No Longer Grim Jim needs a spinal tap or something, which in the meantime has returned him to his previous personality of Grim Jim.
Fat Mac has booked himself into a three month D&D (detox and diet) at a care home in January, on the Holy Isle. If they provide colonic cleansing, then I’m sure he’ll enjoy himself.
I put my own relatively good health in retirement down to not listening to anyone who reckons that ‘self-denial leads to longevity’, plus plenty cigarettes, lager and offal, and listening to magic sounds at deafening levels on the headphones.
