At the funeral yesterday afternoon, which was very well attended, I heard that Dave (known in some posts of the past in this blog as ‘Blind Dave’) had also passed away last week. So it has been a very sad few days.
Yesterday’s service was extremely touching, and all of the people who spoke did very well. About 30 members of the Forth Valley Chorus sang two songs.
At the refreshments afterwards, there were various people who had not met for twenty years or more. There was a lot of looking around at people, who were trying to place the names of old acquaintances. “I’m sure I know that person” But then there was confusion because someone much younger with the same looks would pass by. “That can’t be such-and-such, can it?”
Of course, the younger people turned out to be the sons and daughters of the people who had not met for twenty years. Everyone eventually figured out who everyone else was.
I wonder what kind of songs they were.
They sang Moonriver, and Basin Street Blues. Here is the full group in 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzprEgeiB1c and also in 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCwfT1zpIio
Thanks Rodders. They’re very polished.
