A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in my study, working on my laptop, when there was a peculiar noise and the shelf directly above me fell off the wall.
Having reflexes that an England opening batsman can only dream of (Andy Flower and Ashley Giles – I am still available, just call me), before the shelf landed on my laptop, I caught it in mid-air with my right hand, and with my left hand balanced some of the items resting on it before they too could fall onto the laptop.
What caused the fail?
Shoddy workmanship when erecting one of the shelf brackets. The holes can be seen above.
Who did the work?
I have since drilled some more holes into the wall, secured them properly this time with suitable rawlplugs, and reconnected the shelf.
