Sea kayaking in Croatia
Lindsey and I very much enjoyed our week of sea kayaking in Croatia. The holiday was arranged through Huck Finn Adventure Travel, and I’d recommend them if you’re thinking of a holiday in Croatia.
It was a well designed break, with just the right amount and variety of activities.
After a very early flight, we were met at the airport, driven up the coast to Zaton, and then a speedboat took us to our base on Lopud Island.
We had expected fairly rustic accommodation, but our apartment was modern and spacious.
Lopud is an attractive island. There are no cars, but golf buggy taxis are available if you you don’t want to walk across the island to Sunj Beach.
In the distance is Šipan Island. On the second day we kayaked there and back, which was just about the right distance for the first outing.
Arriving on Šipan
We decided on a double kayak. I found the crew (Lindsey) to be rather mutinous, until our guide, Stephano, pointed out that the person sitting in the front should not really try to steer the kayak.
