I used the printed Piolet Mapas 1:25,000 Parque Natural Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama, and the Ramblr app to track most of our walks in Andalucia. The first one started at the beautiful Ermita de Santa Ana at the top of the Canillas de Albaida village.
The 14.6 kilometer walk with 470 m ascent and highest point at 1,111 m took us from the Ermita, south east past a tennis court, and along a track and then a road to Competa. There were gorgeous views over the valleys.
Above Competa the track took us past a football pitch and into the mountains.
La Maroma, also known as Tejeda, is the highest mountain in the area, at 2069 m.
